Geoff Harris: Achieving Security in Sub-Saharan Africa. Cost effective Alternatives to the Military
(The book title is misleading: the essays in this book are much more general than only focusing on Central Africa)
That is an excellent introduction to elementary topics like: Disarmament, De-Militarization, Peace-building, sustainable shaping of post-war societies etc. Higly recommended!


Howard Clark: Demilitarising minds, demilitarizing societies
Very good concise handling of the topic of militarization and how to de-militarize
